Rules and Regulations

 

1. This is an “Official Wiffle® Ball Yellow Bat” Tournament Bringing your own bat is legal, NO LOADED BATS ALLOWED

2. This is a “No Scuffing of Balls” Tournament

3. This is a Slow Pitch Tournament Max Speed is 35 MPH (to be worked out by players and staff as needed)

4. 3 Outs Per Inning

5. 5 Balls is a Walk

6. 2 Strikes is an Out By Any Combination of the following

a. 2 Foul Balls

b. 1 Foul Ball 1 Strike Looking or Swinging

c. 2 Strikes Looking or Swinging

7. A Strike is made by hitting any part of the tin and the PVC touching the tin

8. Games are 5 Innings

9. Playoffs are 5 Innings

10. No Base Running

11. No more than 3 players on the field at one time.

12. Any teams playing with more than 3 players can bat 4-5 players. The number of players batting each game must remain constant for the entire game. All fielders must bat. If you play the field, you must bat.

13. Teams can consist of 1 to 5 players

14. No designated hitters or pinch hitters allowed.

15. Object strike zone for balls and strikes. Object strike zone is approx. 28" high x 20" wide and 16" from the ground.

16. A line will be drawn at designated spots to denote singles (40 Feet) and doubles (60 Feet).

17. When determining foul balls, standard baseball rules apply.

18. When determining doubles, triples and home runs the rule is "it's where the ball lands from the air" (Distance wise)

19. Triples are off the wall.

20. Home runs are over the fence.

21. Runs do not need to be forced in; imaginary runner advances per base as hitter does (Man on second, batter strokes a double, runner scores.)

22. If the game is tied, the seventh (7) inning begins with runners on 1st and 2nd if the eighth (8) inning is needed it begins with the bases loaded for both teams.

23. A grounder fielded cleanly before the singles line is an out. Cleanly is defined as "without bobble".

24. A fly ball can be bobbled and still be an out as long as the ball does not touch the ground.

25. Double plays are when fly balls are caught and then thrown to hit the object strike zone in one motion, even if there is no one on base.

26. A hit batter does not take his base.

27. A pitcher will pitch from just behind the singles line.

28. Fielders are positioned as they wish on playing field in fair territory without obstructing the batter.

29. Home runs are approximately 80 feet away. Object strike zone is 3 feet behind the front of the plate.

30. The width of the field is approx. 60 feet from right field foul pole to the left field foul pole.

31. Loaded bats and balls are illegal. No scraping, mangling or altering the balls/bats.

32. Standard WIFFLE® balls will be provided.

33. Baseball gloves are illegal.

34. A pitcher must finish pitching to any batter he starts pitching to.

35. A pitcher cannot throw just one particular ball, he must use as many as are made available.

36. To be considered a hit, a.) a ground ball must reach the pitcher's mound. The pitcher may take only one step forward to the ball to field it, but may take as many steps as needed side to side. b.) A pop up is a hit if the ball touches any player in fair territory. The pitcher is allowed as many steps necessary to catch a fly ball.

37. Ten Run Rule is in effect, after the 3rd inning is complete, any team leading by 10 runs or more will be declared the winner.

38. In the unlikely event of a forfeit by the first or second team, the next best available team from that division will advance to championship play.

39. NO ALCOHOL is permitted to be BROUGHT IN - only alcohol for sale is allowed.

40. These games are for fun and enjoyment; disputes will be decided by the tournament umpires and/or staff. Anyone arguing with the umpire or staff member will forfeit the game.

41. COOLERS AND GRILL ARE PROHIBITED. Refreshments will be available for purchase. No exceptions!

42. Check in time begins at 1 hour prior to the start of the tournament.

43.  Teams more than 15 minutes late to arrive at the field to play, following the   announcement of the game, are subject to a one game forfeit score will be 6 - 0.

44. Playoff seeding is done by the win loss record and run differential.

45. Top two (2) teams from each division will make championship single elimination tournament.  This may change depending on how many teams are registered.

46. There is also a single elimination consolation bracket for a chance to win back some of your registration fee. (up to $100 depending on how many teams are registered) This may change depending on how many teams are registered.
